Is there a cure for hemorrhagic septicemia?
Q. Two of my Bala sharks died from hemorrhagic septicemia. I have two other Balas with three tinfoil barbs and three red eye tetra, they all seem fine but for now. Is there a cure?

A. As far as I'm aware its not been seen in tropical fish, and I know in the UK its a reportable disease so you'd have to report it to the authorities, however, before that id have the dead fish passed to a vet for confirmation of your belief. If your correct then all you fish are infected with the same thing and if they've survived are carriers. I would suspect something less than that maybe ammonia burns or violent altercation between several of the fish.

Will a Hemorrhagic ovarian cyst effect my chances of getting pregnant?
Q. Just found out I have a pretty good sized cyst on my left ovary. We just began trying to conceive this month and I'm wondering how this is going to affect our efforts. Thanks in advance for any insight!!

A. it could have an impact, some women with ovarian cysts have them removed before they get pregnant, however many do conceive with them as well, you should talk to a doctor to make sure it's ok for you to try to get pregnant, if not they can help you with meds like Clomid, you can also ask a fertility specialist online for free for advice, try FertilityTies.com good luck!!!

how'll someone get Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever instead of Dengue Fever? only after repeated bites by mosquitoes?
Q. i would like to know that why dengue fever is divided into DF and DHF? is it for the different approach of managements? how will someone get DHF instead of DF? i read in some literatures saying that only after repeated bites by the mosquito,DHF will only develop in the patient?is that true?any experimental evidence to support that? hoping for a reply, thank you very much.
Asked by el chan - Fri Nov 30 18:07:41 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. you could catch both from being bitten by a female aedes aegypti mosquito. those terms were used to describe the stage in which the patient is in. DHF/dengue hemorrhagic fever means its getting worse. in dengue you watch for 2 things, initially we note a decrease in the platelet count, then there is a hemoconcentration later on as seen by elevated hematocrit levels. that is the time you worry over bleeding tendencies when both decrease in platelet and hemoconcentration are present.

A. No dengue vaccine is available. Recently, however, attenuated candidate vaccine viruses have been developed. Efficacy trials in human volunteers have yet to be initiated. Research is also being conducted to develop second-generation recombinant vaccine viruses. Therefore, an effective dengue vaccine for public use will not be available for 5 to 10 years. I know this doesn't sound good but there is always hope.

Can move foot a little bit, responds to pain stimulus in both her leg, foot and arm but can not follow commands with the left side. Her right side is unaffected. I was hoping someone could offer some insight on the recovery ups and downs and process for me and my mom and family. Thanks.
