Abdominal obesity, colloquially known as belly fat or clinically as central obesity, is the accumulation of abdominal fat resulting in an increase in waist size. There is a strong correlation between central obesity and cardiovascular disease. Visceral fat, also known as organ fat or intra-abdominal fat, is located inside the peritoneal cavity, packed in between internal organs and torso, as opposed to subcutaneous fat which is found underneath the skin, and intramuscular fat which is found interspersed in skeletal muscle. Visceral fat is composed of several adipose depots including mesenteric, epididymal white adipose tissue (EWAT) and perirenal fat. An excess of visceral fat is known as central obesity, the "pot belly" or "beer belly" effect, in which the abdomen protrudes excessively. This body type is also known as "apple shaped", as opposed to "pear shaped", in which fat is deposited on the hips and buttocks. From Wikipedia under the

I used to weigh about 275 lbs before I made a decision three years ago to drop weight. I got down to 190, and now fluctuate around 205. My once-rigorous workout routine has fallen by the wayside with life's events of the last year and I've only recently started seriously recommitting myself to exercise... The goal is 20 miles per week on the treadmill. Three days in I've logged nine miles; but I've started having to deal with some persistent pain. I did some pretty intense crunches that first day, and later that night my upper abs starting really hurting. It feels like its pushing on my ribs too... this rib/ab pain is something that's always happened on and off to me, and I've always just figured it was due to my… [cont.] Asked by Robert B - Thu Mar 13 09:01:18 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. I would suggest the above action. Remember that there are ligaments that connect those muscles to the bone. those can be compromised, a little easier to tear that is, and they don't heal quickly either. If you've damaged them before, you can easily do it again. Of course that is if we are talking about ligaments. there is no way to know over the internet what the problem is for sure. With that in mind,if the problem stays persistent and or gets worse I'm sure that you know to have a visit with the doctor. P.S. If the pain is when your breathing , then more that likely you have injured a diaphragm your a breathing assistant muscle, If unaffected by movement or breath then I would get an mri or X-ray ...if the pain is that great good… [cont.] Answered by yar - Thu Mar 13 09:45:49 2008 Sleep habits linked to fat gain in younger adults is this true or fake? answer this now please?ahh!?
