Anti-obesity medication or weight loss drugs refer to all pharmacological agents that reduce or control weight. These drugs alter one of the fundamental processes of the human body, weight regulation, by either altering appetite, metabolism, or absorption of calories. It is common for them to be tried and if there is little or no benefit from them to discontinue treatment. The main treatment modalities for overweight and obesity are dieting and physical exercise. Because of potential side effects, it is recommended that anti-obesity drugs only be prescribed for obesity where it is hoped that the benefits of the treatment outweigh its risks. Every doctor is different and sometimes even if you have the right symptoms they still wont prescribe to you. I would go to your GP and talk to them about it. Your doctor will always have the best answer rather than us. Answered by bmtxkeller - Thu Jan 3 08:49:27 2008 Question on the drug Acomplia?
Q. I just read an article that the drug "Acomlia" has been taken off of all pharmacy shelves in the 18 countries of the E.U The EMEA has warned that patients taking the drug almost double the risk of psychiatric problems.
